Exactly how do you "inadvertantly" bypass security?
If I had a buddy that helped me "inadvertantly" breach airport security we would both be sitting in jail right now. Gore bypassing security was no "accident" he and everyone involved knew they were bypassing security but accepted the special treatment as a right of privilege. My guess is someone was about to blow the whistle on the special treatment and spooked the airport into handling this properly. Even as it was they probably did not follow rules because usually in these kind of breaches everyone in the airport is forced to go out and be rescreened while the airport is searched.
Former vice president Al Gore was involved in a security breach at the Nashville Airport when an American Airlines employee led him and his entourage around security, a clear violation of policy.Personally I don't think airport policy should require these kind of searches. They are stupid and a huge waste of time. But as long as we demand one size fits all non profiling approaches to security our elite ruling class better be subject to the same stupidity as the rest of us.

Lose and loserer in Iraq
I have to admit prospects in Iraq look more and more bleak by the week. The presidents lukewarm resolve over the last couple of years carrying out a hands tied military operation has had mixed results at best. My assessment as with most others is that this "surge", as outlined in his speech last night, is Bushes last shot to get it right before everyone reaches for the lead ring of defeat instead of the brass ring of victory. Loren B. Thompson puts it nicely but I have to disagree on one aspect.
The controversy over what to do about Iraq has congealed into two camps: supporters of the President who lack a clear plan for achieving victory, and critics of the President who have a detailed plan for America's defeat. There is a third camp that wants to do what is necessary no mater the cost or consequence but that group has no voice in American politics today. Time and politics may yet make this Vietnam II as I see events race to a repeat of the past where a democratic congress once again hamstrings a president forcing another American defeat.

Permanent ceasefire means we just bomb you a little
Spain can now claim that their efforts to capitulate to terrorists have met with complete success. In their new era of peace, understanding and cooperation it is now possible to kill and maim innocent citizens while declaring peace.
The Basque separatist group Eta has formally acknowledged it carried out a bomb attack that killed two people at Madrid airport last week. There was an old communist Russian adage that said "we pretend to work and they pretend to pay us." The terrorist version must read something like "we pretend we are not killing you while you pretend you are not dieing."
However the statement by the group also said that the "permanent ceasefire" announced in March remained in effect.

These Colors Do Run
Since the election, the only question remaining seems to be whether we leave Iraq at a stroll or at a run. In either case it will still be with our tail between our legs. The US is about to give up any claim to superpower status because it lacks the will to use its power even for good. It is about to give any claim to being a champion for the downtrodden because it is about to abandon them to the mercies of the evil. The US is about to give up is claim to principle as it goes back on its word to see this through. Mark Stein captures this in classic fashion.
Still, we are all Spaniards now. The incoming House speaker says Iraq is not a war to be won but a problem to be solved. The incoming defense secretary belongs to a commission charged with doing just that. A nostalgic Boomer columnist in the Boston Globe argues that honor requires the United States to "accept defeat," as it did in Vietnam. Didn't work out so swell for the natives, but to hell with them.
I sit and read the news in stunned disbelief as I watch, what used to be, staunch believers in victory embrace phased defeat. Many Republicans and conservatives almost seemed relieved to have election cover for their total abandonment of principle and honor. I suppose bipartisan dishonor is an acceptable alternative to them.

Terrorists shill for Democrat victory
The most loyal constituency for democrat victory in the upcoming elections has spoken.
Everybody has an opinion about next Tuesday's midterm congressional election in the U.S. – including senior terrorist leaders interviewed by WND who say they hope Americans sweep the Democrats into power because of the party's position on withdrawing from Iraq, a move, as they see it, that ensures victory for the worldwide Islamic resistance. They only disagree with the democrats on one point.
In a recent interview with CBS's "60 Minutes," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, stated, "The jihadists (are) in Iraq. But that doesn't mean we stay there. They'll stay there as long as we're there."Pelosi would become House speaker if the Democrats win the majority of seats in next week's elections.
WND read Pelosi's remarks to the terror leaders, who unanimously rejected her contention an American withdrawal would end the insurgency.
Islamic Jihad's Saadi, laughing, stated, "There is no chance that the resistance will stop."
He said an American withdrawal from Iraq would "prove the resistance is the most important tool and that this tool works. The victory of the Iraqi revolution will mark an important step in the history of the region and in the attitude regarding the United States."
The only question at this point is American intelligence and resolve. When our enemies salivate at our defeat and humiliation, when our enemies actively cheer on the political party urging cut and run should we take them at their word and give them what they want? Is this really the end of American exceptionality as we plunge into acquiesce and malaise.
I hope not but sadly I suspect the election will bring cheers and dancing from those that would have us destroyed.

Womens breasts become a terrorist bombing hazard
The moment an infants milk became a terrorist bomb threat you knew this was going to get nuts.
U.S. authorities are advising women not to wear gel bras on airplanes as information developed in the foiled London plot points to an expanding role for women in smuggling explosives on to an aircraft. How absurd must screening get before we deal with the terrorist threat at it's source or treat airport security in a serious manner. Now breast implant and dildo bombs are not out of reason. Does the future hold visions of female breast exams or mass proctology exams for traveling by plane?

Dave Karnes, the crazy kind of hero on 9/11
The movie "World Trade Center" had an interesting side story about Dave Karnes who discovered the two cops in the rubble. Slate has an excellent article on that story here.
Columnist Stewart Alsop once famously identified two rare types of soldiers, the "crazy brave" and the "phony tough." The professionals at Ground Zero—I interviewed dozens in my work as a producer for CBS—were in no way phony toughs. But Karnes does seem a bit "crazy brave." You'd have to be slightly abnormal—abnormally selfless, abnormally patriotic—to do what he did. And some of the same qualities that led Karnes to make himself a hero when it counted may make him less perfect as the image of a hero today.Karnes was a man on a mission from God to do good whatever it took. That is my kind of hero. Be sure to read the complete article.

Hizbullah turns peace on its ear
We now have a stunning display of UN impotence unfolding before our very eyes. A cease fire agreement has been reached which no one intends to follow or enforce.
The U.N. plan for a cease fire and patrols by an international force is falling apart, leaving the possibility Hizbullah will re-arm itself while Israel's hands are tied by international pressure. The terrorists wing of the Lebanon government refuses to disarm (but are willing to hide their weapons), the Lebanese army refuses to disarm them and the peacekeepers (French) refuse to move in until they do disarm or someone else goes in first.
Maybe they should ask the Israeli's to do it, after all that’s what Israel was trying to do when this so-called cease-fire was signed. Meanwhile, Hizbullah resupplies and gets ready for the next round. Is that the ring of laughter I hear?

Can a "good muslim" really stand by and let terrorists kill
The British are considering the obvious and proper idea of racial profiling to help reduce the gridlock at airports. As it turns out they have discovered that searching every 80 year old Anglo great-grandmother or Japanese tourist is not an effective use of resources. What I find interesting is the concerns that the "good Muslim" community will refuse to cooperate with police and allow would be mass murderers to carry out their efforts to rain bodies from the sky.
Such a move could spark outrage among Britain's Muslims but aviation experts said profiling was vital to break the gridlock at airports, in chaos since last week due to tightened security after police said they foiled an Islamist plot to bomb planes. The idea that you can take Islamic terrorism seriously and then turn around and search everyone to avoid offending Muslims is a joke of epic proportions. The idea that “good Muslims” would allow hundreds to die if offended by common sense measures only makes the case. When and if white Anglos begin to regularly threaten and blow airplanes out of the sky feel free to profile me.Former British police chief John Stevens said airport bottlenecks could be reduced by careful targeting, with "young Muslim men" a focus.
Metropolitan Police Chief Superintendent Ali Desai, one of Britain's top Muslim police officers, said of the plan: "What you are suggesting is that we should have a new offence in this country called 'traveling whilst Asian'."
"What we don't want to do is actually alienate the very communities who are going to help us catch terrorists," he told BBC Newsnight on Monday.

Democrats and Abu Musab al Zarqawi declare efforts in Iraq a failure
One of the more stunning aspects of the war in Iraq is the insistence by Democrats that our efforts and policies in Iraq are a failure, a failure that must be recognized so we can immediately withdraw our troops. What makes it stunning is the insistence by the terrorists that our efforts and policies are succeeding and that the success spells their doom unless they can wage a disinformation campaign undermining support in the west.
Perhaps the most valuable finds have been al Qaeda planning documents confirming what has been suspected of terrorist strategy. Also valuable have been the al Qaeda assessment of their situation in Iraq. The terrorist strategy is one of desperation. While the effort continues, to attempt to trigger a civil war between Sunni and Shia in Iraq, this is seen as a losing proposition. The new strategy attempts to trigger a war between the United States and Iran. This would weaken the United States, and put the hurt on Iran, an arch-enemy of al Qaeda. Other documents stressed the need to manipulate Moslem and Western media. This was to be done by starting rumors of American atrocities, and feeding the media plausible supporting material. Al Qaeda's attitude was that if they could not win in reality, they could at least win imaginary battles via the media.Democrats cannot even accept the words of despair from terrorists about their impending defeat, how can anyone trust their judgment. They are obviously ignorant and incapable of objective analysis or are so partisan they would demand defeat in the face of the terrorist threat for power.

Suicidal murderers are heros of human rights
Most of us consider the murderers and their support network detained at Gitmo to be the most vile of human debris. I would say anyone that seeks and helps promote the brutal death of innocent men women and children would not qualify as a hero under any circumstance. That is except for the American left.
William Goodman from the New York-based Center for Constitutional Rights told AFP news agency the three dead men were "heroes for those of us who believe in basic American values of justice, fairness and democracy".I suppose one has to find their heros where they can so I guess they can be my heros as well.
What do I call 3 radical Islamist detainee suicides at Gitmo that do not harm any other innocents?
My heros as well and a good beginning.

It is a sad day in America for Democrats and the left. One of their favorite examples of Bush impotence died in a violent and un-American way without a trial. Severed head messages
Our poor misunderstood enemy left us a new message. I hope none of you warmongers rush to judgment and assume this to be some kind of threat. It is commonly known that sending gifts of severed heads is the classic sign of a desire for peace.
Police in Iraq have said on Tuesday that they found nine severed heads, wrapped in plastic bags and left in a fruit box by the side of a road.Sadly I have the feeling that decapitations occurred before and after a devout prayer to almighty Allah.
The heads were found near Baquba, north of Baghdad, where police made a similar discovery three days ago.

Are almost half of all Americans retarded?
Please dear God tell me this is not true.
In the telephone survey of 1200 individuals, just 47% agreed that "the 9/11 attacks were thoroughly investigated and that any speculation about US government involvement is nonsense." Almost as many, 45%, indicated they were more likely to agree "that so many unanswered questions about 9/11 remain that Congress or an International Tribunal should re-investigate the attacks, including whether any US government officials consciously allowed or helped facilitate their success."By my reading of this ALMOST HALF of Americans suspect that the government may have had a role in the 9/11 attacks. ARE YOU PEOPLE CRAZY. How deep must the madness go before American citizens would entertain the possibility that an American president would aid Muslim terrorists in killing 4,000 American citizens on American soil. I weep at the rising American ignorance.
To top it all off we get this gem that goes right over the head of our reporter.
Surprisingly, the groups most likely to rate the media positively tended to be those that were also most skeptical about official accounts of 9/11, including African-Americans, progressives, and those with lower incomes. The media were rated poorly by roughly 60% of Republicans, conservatives, and the more affluent and better educated. Libertarians and extreme conservatives, at 74% and 67% respectively, were the most negative of all.The crazy people buying into a government conspiracy are the same people that think well of the media (main stream media anyone). We have a reporter that cannot connect ignorance with watching the traditional news media. So much for informing the public.

Moussaoui calls himself a lier
I must admit that I have never thought Moussaoui was part of the serious hijacking plans. He always came across to me as a hijacker want to be but not stable enough to be part of a coordinated and insanely evil plot kind of guy. That, or the coward in him is now coming out since it's no fun any more.
Convicted Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui says he lied on the witness stand about being involved in the plot and wants to withdraw his guilty plea because he now believes he can get a fair trial.I am sure someone will be sympathetic and help him try to get out of the mess he is now in. I for one hope he rots, we and our courts are not here to amuse him at his whim.

Do you deserve to die because of historical mistakes by America?
I hear many on the left claim that America deserved what happened on 9/11 because of historical injustices. Almost all do it with a detached attitude as though they mean the rest of America not including themselves.
Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, star of a new flick about the aftermath of 9/11, believes the United States "is responsible in some way" for the devastating terror attacks.Lets set aside for a moment that these Middle Eastern nations are not former US colonies but instead they were British and French. America has never had colonies in the Middle East. I do not know Gyllenhaal's nationality but I can assume she is American or European. I keep waiting for these people to loudly proclaim that they personally deserve to die for the historical injustices done in the name of America. Their proclamations of American guilt ring hollow without a willingness to count themselves as a justifiable target of some bloodthirsty jihadist. Does their willingness to accept broad responsibility only apply when it is the “little people” that die?
I say they put their money where their mouth is and offer themselves up as the next human sacrifice for payment of this debt we owe. For now, the willingness to write off others as payment for this mythical debt is about as intellectually honest as throwing virgins into volcanoes to please the gods and avoid future eruptions.
The next time you start thinking that Americans deserve to die for past wrongs be sure to ask yourself if you deserve to die.

Being under Islamic death threat makes you an undesirable neighbor
Imagine you speak out against Islamic terror, imagine further that this results in death threats, imagine further still that your neighbors went to court to have you evicted out of fear, imagine if they won.
Liberal Party MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali has been ordered to vacate the high-security home she is renting in The Hague within four months.I can not express in civil words how offensive I find this towering example of civic cowardice in Amsterdam. I especially like the pathetic self absolving defense posed by these despicably cowardly neighbors. An appeal court sided with her neighbours who complained her presence put their own safety at risk and caused disruption to their lives. Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner broke the news of the court decision at an EU meeting in Luxembourg on Thursday.
Somali-born Hirsi Ali is known as a critic of aspects of Islam and she went into hiding in November 2004 when filmmaker Theo van Gogh was murdered. They had finished work shortly before his murder on Submission, a short film about the ill-treatment of women under Islam.
The only way those neighbors could have topped this display would have been to kill Ayaan Hirsi Ali themselves for the good of all concerned.

Mark Steyn on facing down the crazies
Mark Steyn once again proves why I think he is probably the best writer today on the war on terror.
In a more culturally confident age, the British in India were faced with the practice of "suttee" -- the tradition of burning widows on the funeral pyres of their husbands. General Sir Charles Napier was impeccably multicultural:Be sure to read it all.''You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: When men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."

Tortured by your friends
Whenever I see anti-war activists hanging out with anti-American factions in the middle east I always wonder how long it will be before they become the next dead torture victim. These activists seem to be a sort of reserve hostage pool terrorists turn to when other targets become scarce or risky.
Interior Ministry Lt. Col. Falah al-Mohammedawi said Fox was found with his hands tied and gunshot wounds to his head and chest. There were cuts on his body and bruises on his head, indicating torture, he said. The corpse was dressed in Iraqi-made clothing.Think of it as a terror victim farm system like the one used in baseball.
Had he been a protestor against terrorism he still might have died, but at least the people he trusted, cared for and for which he advocated would not have slipped up behind him kidnapped him, tortured him and killed him.

Palestinians vote death in as their new leadership
Now it can be official governmental policy to kill innocent men, women and children using the mentally disabled as suicide bomber delivery systems.
Hamas supporters streamed into the streets to celebrate victory. In Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, Hamas loyalists shot in the air and handed out candy. Others honked horns and waved Hamas flags from car windows.Naturally it would take Arab Muslims to demonstrate the finest example of democratic failure possible by electing a murdering terrorist majority to their government. Supporters of Palestine here in the US must be so proud.Israeli officials declined comment, but senior security officials gathered Thursday to discuss the results. Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert scheduled talks with senior officials later in the day.
Olmert said Wednesday, before Hamas claimed victory, that Israel cannot trust a Palestinian leadership in which the Islamic group has a role.
"Israel can't accept a situation in which Hamas, in its present form as a terror group calling for the destruction of Israel, will be part of the Palestinian Authority without disarming," Olmert said in a statement issued by his office.

Can't even grieve in peace because of antiwar activists
Some of the more deplorable tactics used by the antiwar crowd are protests outside veterans hospitals and funerals.
Prompted by protests at military funerals by the Rev. Fred Phelps' anti-gay church, a Wichita senator introduced a bill Monday setting specific distances and times where people can demonstrate at such services. It is hard to believe they could think this kind of behavior helps their cause. Maybe they just consider and new coverage good coverage no mater how abhorrent their behavior.
"People have the right to bury their family members in peace," said Sen. Jean Schodorf. "I find it repugnant that anybody would protest the funeral of a soldier."

AIDS as a weapon of terror
The new low cost biological weapon?
Al-Qaida is recruiting suicide bombers who are infected with the AIDS virus, according to Britain's Sunday Mirror. The newspaper reported that terror chiefs are also targeting fanatics who suffer other lethal blood diseases such as hepatitis and dengue fever in order to increase their "kill rate" from an explosion. The chilling new threat is revealed in papers distributed to British military camps in Iraq and across Europe.

Give me liberty or give me death was a call for war
Everyone remembers the famous quote from Patrick Henry "Give me liberty or give me death". What amazes me is how the left interprets this to mean give me liberty even if it results in my suicide. Patrick Henry was not making a bold call for peaceful ignorant suicide it was a cry for war against those that would do us ill.
This issue got raised over tapping the phone calls of America’s enemies. Does anyone doubt that the communications from the British to American traitors, probably couriers on horseback (their phone service of the day), was not intercepted and read? Of course it was and no one in their right mind would have complained about privacy in 1776.
Even more interesting is the fact that Patrick Henry was a citizen politician promoting war against Britain. Today the left belittles politicians with no military service as being unfit to decide matters of war. Does this now make Patrick Henry a chicken hawk too?

Ny Times accuses US of propaganda and information warfare
From what I read the US is using techniques commonly used by US news organizations to reach their readers.
Payments to the scholars were originally part of Lincoln's contract to aid the military with information warfare in Anbar Province. Known as the "Western Missions" contract, it also called for producing radio and television advertisements, Web sites, posters, and for placing advertisements and opinion articles in Iraqi publications. In October, Lincoln was awarded a new contract by the Pentagon for work in Iraq, including continued contact with Muslim scholars.Oh my, the horror. Based on this description I am obviously being assaulted every day by the main stream media.
You have to admire the use of the term "information warfare" though. That is a bold effort to make a mountain out a zit. This is starting to look like an attempt at media impeachment by a thousand paper cuts.

Terrorist kidnappers demand imaginary French troop withdrawal from Iraq
I am guessing they didn't get the memo.
A militant group in Iraq has threatened to kill a French water engineer seized three weeks ago, unless France ends its "illegitimate presence" in the country.
The channel said the previously unknown armed group had demanded the withdrawal of French troops from Iraq. France has not sent forces to the country.I wonder if this is the same group that kidnapped the G.I. Joe doll a few months back.

You can kill them but you cannot listen to their phone calls to the US
Sometimes arguments advocating civil rights border on the absurd when you think about them in a serious manner.
Responding to Gonzales' claim, Wisconsin Sen. Russell Feingold (D) said on NBC's Today Show: "Nobody, nobody, thought when we passed a resolution to invade Afghanistan and to fight the war on terror, including myself who voted for it, thought that this was an authorization to allow a wiretapping against the law of the United States."In the same vein maybe we should adopt a no prisoners policy (kill them rather then capture them) against terrorists to protect them from torture. After all, we wouldn't want to violate their civil rights.

The Left Begins Drive to Strip America of It's Defenses Against Terrorism
We have two examples of the war against American security being waged by the left. The Patriot Act was defeated by filibuster and secret intelligence activities involving wiretaps of overseas communication from suspected terrorists were disclosed.
It has been 3 years since the Patriot act was adopted and still no one can demonstrate how it has been abused, all we get are the paranoid platitudes from fearful critics of the war on terror about "possible" abuse.
Senate Democrats blocked passage Friday of a new Patriot Act to combat terrorism at home, depicting the measure as a threat to the constitutional liberties of innocent Americans.Next we have an uproar over the monitoring of overseas communications of possible terror suspects. You would think the way some news sources report this that the President authorized the routine monitoring of average Americans talking to their next door neighbor which is not the case.
The surveillance, disclosed in Friday's New York Times, is said to allow the agency to monitor international calls and e-mail messages of people inside the United States. But the paper said the agency would still seek warrants to snoop on purely domestic communications — for example, Americans' calls between New York and California.I would be willing to bet that nearly every foreign government monitors these same types of communications for internal espionage and security so you would think the US having the same access wouldn't be that surprising.
When you combine these two developments with the recent torture legislation one can only suppose administration critics don't want the US government to obtain information which can prevent domestic terrorist acts. It may be time we had another 9/11 to refocus the American mind on the fact it is a dangerous world out there. Obviously the left is doing it's part by limiting the governments ability to gather information on terrorists and crippling our ability to defend ourselves.

Iraq Embraces Democracy
Terrorism in Iraq has lost; all that remains is mopping up those too ignorant to realize it. Iraq has elected its first truly democratic government under it’s new constitution with all factions participating including Sunni's which had boycotted previous elections.
Minority Sunni Arabs swelled the turnout in Iraq's largely peaceful election on Thursday, reversing a previous poll boycott that only increased their loss of power after the fall of Saddam Hussein.Another little known fact is that the Iraqi people are cooperating in turning in terrorists at record levels. With nationalist insurgents supporting the poll and even vowing to protect Sunni Arab voters, there was only sporadic violence, well below normal Iraqi levels.
Turnout in 10 hours of voting was at least 10 million, or 67 percent, the head of Iraq's Electoral Commission told Reuters, much higher than the 58 percent who voted in the previous election on January 30, when most Sunni Arabs boycotted.
In Saddam Hussein's home province more than 80 percent of voters turned out, a local official said. Polling stations in parts of Iraq were kept open an extra hour to let those waiting in line cast ballots.
In Sunni Falluja turnout was 70 percent, officials said, and in Kurdish regions and the Shi'ite south it was also high.
The only ones that are unwilling to embrace democratic victory in Iraq now are Al Queda and American democrats. The last month we have seen democrats demanding defeat in the face of victory. Now we have a stunning display for democracy in bloom because our president held true to the commitments we made.
There is much yet to be done but for now we should take a moment to appreciate the courage and commitment of the Iraqi people, our troops and our president for a job well done.

Remember that Police Training Offered by the Germans
If we heared it once we heared it a thousand times. Democrats (and especially John Kerry) trying to make the case that the US should rely more on our European friends (meaning French and Germans) to help train the police in Afganistan.
Another officer accused the Germans of a complete failure in their mission to rebuild the country's police force. He said German forces had trained little more than 200 officers in four years, and when the new police force was deployed in Kabul, they had promptly disappeared. "In many ways, Afghanistan is in a worse position now, four years on from the war there, than Iraq is," he said. The Iraq rebuilding is US run, The Afganistan rebuilding is led by a cooalition. I suppose German police training is actually little more then an all expense paid European vacation. This makes sense in a fashion since that what John Kerry did in Europe as well.
As for our Dutch coolation partners.
It took months of wrangling to persuade other NATO members to agree to supply troops. But one senior officer described the efforts of coalition partners as "shambolic", accusing the Dutch government of demanding United States military protection for its troops before agreeing to send them.Dutch troops demand US protection? What are they, store window props or are they "real" soldiers?

Even Iraqi "Insurgents" Want Democracy
At A time when Al Queda and US Democrats are telling us that the US cannot win the war in Iraq and must cut and run we have Iraqi terrorist telling Al Queda to leave the election alone.
Saddam Hussein loyalists who violently opposed January elections have made an about-face as Thursday's polls near, urging fellow Sunni Arabs to vote and warning al Qaeda militants not to attack.I guess even murderers and thugs believe in Democracy more then the "loyal" opposition party back here at home.
In a move unthinkable in the bloody run-up to the last election, guerrillas in the western insurgent heartland of Anbar province say they are even prepared to protect voting stations from fighters loyal to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, leader of al Qaeda in Iraq.

Butcher of Baghdad Demands Justice
There are certain things that would be funny if they were not so absurd. The sight of a man who butchered and gassed his own people denouncing the court trying him for his horrific crimes as being unjust is one of those things.
The former leader then shouted at the judge: "I will not return, I will not come to an unjust court! Go to Hell!"But then Democracies are used to having their fairness used against them by the vilest of human garbage. You can see that Saddam still does not take the trial seriously. He pretends he can just refuse to participate and it will go away.
Before it is all done I bet this is going to be one of those situations where we wished we had flushed him out of that spider hole with 20-30 hand grenades.

Democrats in Full Vietnam Flashback Mode
The democrats are officially in cut and run full Vietnam flashback. They never wanted to fight for freedom and security. They have been unable to do that since the drugged and communist sympathizing anarchist 60's. The problem is principle never meshed with their political aspirations. Well now they have convinced themselves that a Vietnam style retreat leaving thousands to be slaughtered can be acceptable. Dean and Kerry today have finally managed to transport themselves back to those happier days in their minds.
"I've seen this before in my life. This is the same situation we had in Vietnam. Everybody then kept saying, 'just another year, just stay the course, we'll have a victory.' Well, we didn't have a victory, and this policy cost the lives of an additional 25,000 troops because we were too stubborn to recognize what was happening."Strategic deployment is the new democrat PC term that’s supposed sound better then cut and run. Kerry on the other hand decided to repeat his 60's charge claiming US troops raped and tortured civilians by making similar charges about troupes today in Iraq.Dean says the Democrat position on the war is 'coalescing,' and is likely to include several proposals.
"I think we need a strategic redeployment over a period of two years," Dean said. "Bring the 80,000 National Guard and Reserve troops home immediately.
And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the--of--the historical customs, religious customs.Blend it with today’s democrat "for the children" fetish and we have an updated sellout of our brave troops. According to Kerry US troops were the evil in Vietnam and now he thinks the same about troops in Iraq. And he wonders why he lost the presidential election.

Rep. Murtha Goes Stark Raving Mad
Murtha is now a fitting symbol for Democrat leadership. He is a highly decorated war hero that has completely lost his mind. By his description you would think he was talking about some poor third world conscripts.
Most U.S. troops will leave Iraq within a year because the Army is "broken, worn out" and "living hand to mouth," Rep. John Murtha (news, bio, voting record) told a civic group.Have the democrats sunk so low they must portray our troops as being so pathetic? The Bush policy is to win but evidently Murtha cannot even stomach the use of the word.
"I predict he'll make it look like we're staying the course," Murtha said, referring to Bush. "Staying the course is not a policy."Staying the course until victory is achieved is an excellent policy and I think is compares favorably to democrat preferred cut and run proposals. It's sad really to see someone who stood up when America needed him loose his mind, dignity and resolve.
I was willing to give Murtha the benefit of the doubt based on his service just like I wanted to give Cindy Sheehan consideration as a grieving mother. Now Murtha has demonstrated he is nothing more then a cheap political demagogue or a lunatic willing to tell lies to advance his agenda or demonstrate his insanity or his loss of nerve.

A Woman’s Prerogative as Foreign Policy
There is an old cliché "It's a woman's prerogative to change her mind." This cliché can now be considered the official foreign policy of the Democratic party. Kerry demonstrated this early on during the election in classic democrat form with his statement "I was for the 87 billion before I was against it." The cliché is actually a classic demonstration of indecision wrapped in the appearance of decisiveness.
The last few weeks we have seen the classic signs of a party that will go to war and abandon it on a whim. It is common knowledge (particularly after Vietnam) that entering into a war regardless of the reasons without an iron willed determined to see it through is the height of irresponsibility. Those now claiming that their vote for the war was a mistake for whatever reason should also understand it is a reflection of their own inability to commit to hard foreign policy choices, a well known weakness of democrats that has kept them from power for a while now.
Now we have the heroes of the Democratic party Cindy Sheehan and Rep. Murtha calling for immediate pullout to the cheers of the party faithful. That is unless you ask them to comment on the record personally at which time they will backpedal from such and idea. When forced to take a stand we get a 403-3 vote in favor of staying the course only to have Democratic party leaders like Pelosi later call again for immediate pullout.
Will the democrats ever show dedication to a cause? Will they ever be able to settle on a word that means immediate withdrawal without having to use the actual word immediate? Or will they adhere to the "Woman's prerogative" foreign policy.

First White Woman Suicide Bomber
I can only assume this will please Radical anti-war feminist.
MIREILLE, who was born in Belgium to a white, middle-class Christian family, blew herself to pieces last month in a suicide attack against American troops near Baghdad.I am still trying to figure out what it is about enlightened and progressive European countries that helps promote radical Islam and their messengers of death.

Terrorist Place Peace Activist in Protective Custody
The Freedom fighters in Iraq now seem to be placing so called peace activists in protective custody.
A British anti-war activist abducted in Iraq was investigating human rights abuses with a group called the Christian Peacemakers Team when he was held.
"Norman feels very strongly that the occupation in Iraq is a mistake," he said. "He has been a pacifist all his life, working in hospitals rather than doing national service at the age of 18.I suspect his hosts, in a show of compassion and humanity, may provide him safe escort to his maker.
I cannot help but think the recent rise in the kidnapping (or so it seems) of foreigners the last couple of days has something to do with the recent cut and run rhetoric coming out of Washington and particularly democrats.

Can't we All Get Along? But Feel Free to Shoot the Americian
One of the more irritating things about Islamic societies is their willingness to treat their non-Muslim "friends" as expendable. A good example comes from the recent Arab summit in Cairo.
In Egypt, the final communique's attempt to define terrorism omitted any reference to attacks against U.S. or Iraqi forces. Delegates from across the political and religious spectrum said the omission was intentional. They spoke anonymously, saying they feared retribution.I suppose I could be mistaking Arab cowardice with Islamic disdain. It reminds me of that old joke "Do what you want to my girlfriend but please let me go.""Though resistance is a legitimate right for all people, terrorism does not represent resistance. Therefore, we condemn terrorism and acts of violence, killing and kidnapping targeting Iraqi citizens and humanitarian, civil, government institutions, national resources and houses of worships," the document said.
Its things like this that make me want us to leave them to their own destruction out of disgust.

Put Up or Shutup on Iraq War
A vote tonight to separate the men from the chickens?
House Leadership In Meeting Making Final Decision on Vote...It’s pathetic that this ever had to happen but at least it provides a chance to clear the air by flushing out the political hypocrites.
GOP to Dems: Pull Troops Now? Okay, then let's vote?
Troop resolution Tonight. 7 p.m. in House, is plan...
Ultimate showdown...
I suspect the Dems will complain that asking for an on-the-record vote is a dirty trick.
Or will the Dems cut and run from a vote like they want to do to Iraq.
Update: I was right on target, they think it's a trick. What is interesting is watching the left make a distinction between immediate pullout before the job is done and immediately beginning the pullout before the job is done. Evidently to the left a slow gradual abandonment of Iraq to anarchy and civil war is good and a fast abandonment of Iraq to anarchy and civil war is bad.

I Was Misled by Reports I Did Not Read
The recent cry by Senate Democrats over being misled by intelligence reports about the war in Iraq can get quite humerious at times. When asked.
Reid said: “We’re talking about six senators. The answer is, if you ask me, I didn’t read it. But I don’t know who did. But there’s a hundred senators, not six. And some members of the Intelligence Committee may have read it. I don’t know. But the fact of the matter is—you can’t escape this—the administration manipulated the evidence and the people who opposed them, like Amb. [Joseph] Wilson were taken to the woodshed.”Lets set aside for a moment the debate over it's accuracy and administration motives. You have to love the grade school "Why you picking on me, they didnt read it either" excuse followed by complaints about being misled by reports he never read.

Chasing Vietnam Cowardice
The American French Democratic party of appeasement has finally come home and called for immediate pullout in Iraq.
An influential House Democrat who voted for the Iraq war called Thursday for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, another sign of growing unease in Congress about the conflict. As every modern Democrat knows, "when the going gets tough the Democrats run". The last time Democrats attempted cowardice on this scale 100's of thousands of Vietnamese were displaced and slaughtered.
"It is time for a change in direction," said Rep. John Murtha (news, bio, voting record), D-Pa., one of Congress' most hawkish Democrats. "Our military is suffering, the future of our country is at risk.

Embedded With the Enemy
Now the left has their own picture book of war hero's.
Unembedded is a stunning book of photographs from four photojournalists roaming Iraq without U.S. military escorts. Over the next week I'll be featuring photos from the book.Four journalist roaming Iraq embedded with their American soldier murdering guides. Journalist that watched terrorist murderers of US soldiers and children load and repair more weapons to kill US soldiers and children.
Had they gotten killed or injured taking pictures of murderers preparing to kill US soldiers and children the left would have been outraged. I am sure they will make a ton of money some of which they probably paid to their US soldier killing guides which they will use to kill more US soldiers.

How Many Lawyers Does it Take to Defend a Murderious Dictator?
Everyone knows about lawyer jokes but this one is stunningly funny because of the number. And to top it off it is funnier because they quit all at once.
Some 1,100 Iraqi lawyers have withdrawn from Saddam Hussein's defense team, citing insufficient protection following the slayings of two peers representing co-defendants of the ousted Iraqi leader. How much security would it take to guard 1,100+ (assuming all did not quit) lawyers to begin with? Have they considered firing 100 of them and using the money to arm the other 1,000 so they can protect themselves? Have they considered protecting them by housing them in Abu Grahb, Guantanamo bay? Have they considered using the beloved and misunderstood ex-Iraqi dictator as a human shield? The numbers alone and the demand for guarantees of personal safety are hilarious with these numbers.

France treats their race issues like they treat their terrorist issues. As though they don't exist.
Other commentators objected to the way foreign media stress the ethnic backgrounds of the rioters and the racial discrimination they complain about -- issues less prominent here because France officially does not recognise it has minority communities. But they say confession is good for the soul.

The Case for French Surrender
John Simpson BBC World Affairs Editor is already making the case that....
If President Jacques Chirac and the centre-right government which supports him had been in full control of France's political life, it is hard to think these long days and nights of continuous rioting would have taken place.More of the same kind of arrogant French socialist government is the solution.
Violence there is regular and unexceptionable. Even on a normal weekend, between 20 and 30 vehicles are regularly attacked and burned by rioters. This is normal so what’s the big deal.
His presidency is overshadowed by an inescapable sense of past corruption and weakness, and he has governed France at a time when its economy and its position in the world have both declined sharply and markedly.Less of the same kind of arrogant French socialist government is the solution.
No matter that events have thoroughly borne out his criticisms of the US and British invasion of Iraq in 2003. The Muslim teenagers who briefly applauded him then have long since forgotten all that - though of course if he had supported President George W Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair then, he would be in even greater trouble now.Burying your head in the sand and postponing disaster is the definition of success.
If the riot police could have restored order they would have done so, but they were overstretched and outwitted, and their only response was more of the kind of violence which made the crowds even more ferocious in their turn.A strong police response to rampant violence only makes things worse.
Thanks to the Revolution, violence even has a kind of virtue which it simply does not possess in a country like Britain. When government becomes incapable of change, the crowds in the streets have to do the changing for themselves.Violence is good for France.
Last April, Amnesty International singled out the violence and racism of the French police towards the non-white people of the suburbs for particular criticism.France got what they deserved.
At the least the BBC is consistant in demanding worldwide surrender by all democratic governments to all forms of anarchy and violence worldwide

Land for Peace - In France
The irony of the French intifada is sweeping the internet. Some suggest that France should lead by example and adopt the solution they would have Israel use.
Well, now that the French are experiencing their own intifada, we suggest that they resolve the problem using the very same plan that they have been trying for decades to impose upon Israel. In a sense they had already abandoned trying to govern these areas anyway. Now they can make it official. Witness the birth FrancistanYes, comrades, it is time to implement the Land for Peace Plan, Paris style. Here it is:

I Want to be Sympathetic to France, But...
Let’s make one thing clear before I start. Those burning, rioting, throwing stones and now shooting at cops are responsible for the mayhem going on in France. No one (outside of war) makes you harm other people or their property.
But, the dark side of me thinks it's about time those sanctimonious blowhards had to pay the price for ignoring their own backyard and hoping that any enmity would be focused on the United States instead of the failure of their own governments. For too long these elitist have been selling out global security by leaving America holding the bag. Every time America would try to do the heavy lifting we would get cut off at the knees by these short sighted bureaucratic chickens. The United States is treated much like the cop that stops a husband from beating his wife only to have the wife club him over the head with a chair while the neighbors stand around and cheer her on because it allows their jealousy some petty satisfaction.
There is one bright side though. I don't think the Supreme Court or John Kerry and his ilk will be touting the superiority of European enlightenment anytime soon. I can also safely say this has put the lie to Jacques Chirac’s appeasement approach and rhetoric of understanding as well. As to if Europe will learn a lesson from this, I doubt it.

The 2K Deathvigil and Cindy
To mark the 2,000th American soldiers death Cindy plans to tie herself to the Whitehouse fence.
"And I'll probably get arrested, and when I get out, I'll go back and do the same thing," she said. Now that she has moved on from Hillary she is news safe again.
You can almost feel the anticipation on the left for additional American deaths so they can once again put on their dog and pony show in support of suicidal capitulation to the forces which would destroy them and us.
Is there any chance we can insure Cindy’s safety by handcuffing her to that fence. I wouldn’t want her to fall off and hurt herself.

Please Tell Me What a Toddler would do With 72 Virgins
The article doesn't say if the toddler was still breast feeding so I am not sure if that is out as a possibility. It may be that this Palestinian mother just wanted to make sure her baby was well fed.
In a house where the suspects were hiding 10 Kg (about 22 pounds) of explosives were found. An extensive search of the house revealed that the wife of one of the suspects had hidden a hand-grenade under the toddler she was holding in her arms.Could it possibly be that this woman despairing of the poverty of life in Palestine just wanted a better life for her child in death? Soon you will be able to buy the new improved child’s suicide vest with Jihad decoder ring, virgin trading cards and "genuine explosives included". Be the first kid on you block to demonstrate to your friends the finer point of suicide.
It is a sad fact that terrorists prey not only on their opponents but also on the weakest in their own society by convincing those who are young or mentally disabled to strap on bombs and blow up innocents. Why must the turn a mothers love into a tool of death?

My Kids Can Beat Up Your Kids
There was a big fervor recently when some pictures of little Palestinian toddlers dressed in traditional terrorist garb were floating around on the internet. The thought being how could parents be teaching their children so young to be suicide bombers and terrorists and thus continuing the cycle of violence.
I saw our response this weekend at the local air show. I watched an 8 year old girl handling a laser target pointer and later an M-16. Afterwards I saw 3 young lads doing pushups as a Marine recruiter barked out the count.
As long as there are parents that will push their children to kill innocent men, women and children; America will have young people that are eager to step up to defend us against them.

Four Years ago today over 3000 American were murdered by Radical Islamic terrorist from all over the Middle East added by others located all over the world including here in the United States. Some would like us to move on while the enemy still plots our death. Maybe they forget the horror. Maybe this will help them remember.

Our enemy shows no mercy and makes no distinction between our leaders, our troops, our families, our men, our women or our children. Any death no matter the innocence is a path to their glory. That is the face of evil.

This is about what I expect too.
Iraqi President Jalal Talabani said Friday he believes that within two years, there'll be no further need for U.S. forces there.
He warned that a quick withdrawal of American and multinational forces "could lead to the victory of the terrorists in Iraq and create grave threats to the region, the United States and the civilized world."Which the Bush haters want. To them it's more important for President Bush to fail then it is for America to win.

Britain Deportations of Terrorists May Violate Human Rights
Only at the United Nations could a reasonable policy designed to protect the lives of innocents be denounced as a violation of human rights violation. These people being deported are the lowest of the low and if given free run will incite the deaths of many more innocent.
BRITAIN and the United Nations seem headed for confrontation over Britain's plan to deport alleged terrorist sympathizers in the wake of the July 7 London bombings.Just think, the UN is the holy grail of the left, the repository of world peace, law and compassion. These cockroaches have been hiding in free societies fomenting violence too long to be tolerated any further. It's about time they were sent home to practice their special kind of hate where it is government practice.Home Secretary Charles Clarke said on Wednesday that the first deportations would happen in the "next few days" as he published a list of "unacceptable behavior" that would allow him to deport foreign citizens accused of glorifying or encouraging terrorism.
The behavior includes making speeches, running websites, publishing material or using a position of responsibility such as teacher or youth leader to "foment, justify or glorify terrorist violence" or "foster hatred that might lead to intercommunity violence" in Britain.
Manfred Novak, special investigator on torture for the UN Human Rights Commission, told The Guardian the plan could violate international law by circumventing the obligation "not to deport anybody if there is a serious risk that he or she might be subjected to torture".

U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold is First to Give Specific Date for American Surrender
If we leave Iraq before the job is done we have surrendered to one of the greatest forces for evil in existence. Who knows what the situation will be at that time. Making plans to leave just tells the killers how long to wait.
The United States should set a target date of Dec. 31, 2006, to complete the military mission in Iraq and have all U.S. forces removed from the nation, U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold (news, bio, voting record) said Wednesday.Al Qaeda was emboldened by it's defeat of the USSR, imagine how they will react to defeating the US as well. If we surrender we spit on the memory of those that have given their lives for a just cause. We bought it, we broke it and we better stay and fix it. We leave the Iraqis to slaughter we become as pathetic as the left tells us we are.
The Wisconsin Democrat, considered a possible candidate for president in 2008, said his proposal is based in part on what has happened when other timetables were set in Iraq, setting things in motion to transfer sovereignty, hold elections and prepare a constitution.

Press Tries to Convince Soldier He Should be Depressed About Iraq
Anyone who gets their news from sources other then the traditional media (ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, NYT, etc..) knows that troop morale is much better then reported. It has gotten so bad these reporters feel obligated to display skepticism of reports from the actual troops they talk to in Iraq. This recent exchange is classic.
LAUER: Don't get me wrong, I think you're probably telling the truth, but there might be a lot of people at home wondering how that might be possible with the conditions you're facing and with the insurgent attacks you're facing... What would you say to people who doubt that morale could be that high? What Lauer should really be concerned about is his networks plunging morale and ratings for constantly being shown to be the fool.CAPTAIN SHERMAN POWELL: Well sir, I'd tell you, if I got my news from the newspapers I'd be pretty depressed as well.

Bush Grieves with Families in Pain
Newsweek gives a heart wrenching account of President Bush meeting with grieving families.
"I don't want my husband's death to be in vain," she told him. The president apologized repeatedly for her husband's death. When Owen began to cry, Bush grabbed her hands. "Don't worry, don't worry," he said, though his choking voice suggested that he had worries of his own. The president and the widow hugged. "It felt like he could have been my dad," Owen recalled to NEWSWEEK. "It was like we were old friends. It almost makes me sad. In a way, I wish he weren't the president, just so I could talk to him all the time."
Privately, Bush has met with about 900 family members of some 270 soldiers killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. The conversations are closed to the press, and Bush does not like to talk about what goes on in these grieving sessions, though there have been hints. An hour after he met with the families at Fort Bragg in June, he gave a hard-line speech on national TV. When he mentioned the sacrifice of military families, his lips visibly quivered.
Why is my son gone?" one asked. Ascione couldn't hear his answer, but soon "she began to sob, and he began crying, too. And then he just hugged her tight, and they cried together for what seemed like forever."Too hell with anyone that thinks he does not care. He doesn't have to put himself through this but he does anyway. Read it all.

Illegal Alien Hired By Border Patrol
Living here in Texas the border problem is common knowledge. Illegals are so common the City of Houston provides day labor centers for them to gather for pickup. Every year we hear another story about bodies of illegal aliens found in the desert that had been robbed, stranded, shot or left to die in the heat. Now we have a new wrinkle. Seems one was hired as a member of the border patrol.
CASEY WIAN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Seven weeks after September 11, 2001, Oscar Antonio Ortiz applied to become a U.S. Border Patrol agent. He got the job, prosecutors allege, by using someone else's birth certificate to disguise the fact that he's a Mexican citizen and, incredibly, an illegal alien. In a typical twist politicians here in Texas (Yes a majority Republican state) are trying to keep the Minutemen out of the state by brushing these elderly couples in lawn chairs with binoculars off as dangerous racist. Texas has recently been overrun with RINOs much to the consternation of the rank and file. That's bad enough. But according to a criminal complaint, Ortiz then used his badge to help smuggle illegal aliens into this country in groups of 30 to 50. Ortiz pleaded not guilty Friday in San Diego federal court.
T.J. BONNER, PRESIDENT, NATIONAL BORDER PATROL COUNCIL: It's just terrible that someone who is charged with enforcing the immigration laws of the United States turns out to be not only an illegal alien but someone who is smuggling hundreds of other illegal aliens into the country. Who do you trust any more?
We are at a serious loss on what to do. The Mexico side of the border is in open drug war with hundreds of deaths, kidnappings and disappearances in the last year. Drugs and illegals are pouring in unchecked. The state and federal government are making no effort to stop it. And now the border patrol is hiring illegals to guard the border.
Can it get any worse?

Anyone Can Become a Suicide Bomber
In our world of relative morality it appears the "experts" still cannot seem to understand the suicide bomber. These are people who will strap an explosive to their body and step into a crowd of innocent men, women and children. Detonate this explosive killing themselves and as many innocents as possible.
It's been said that the suicide bombers who cause the scenes of carnage and chaos relayed on American TV screens and front pages must be driven by a cocktail of religious fanaticism and outright insanity.Would I be willing to die to protect my family and country? Yes. Would my family and country call on me to strap an explosive to my body and intentionally step into a crowd of innocent men, women and children? No. That’s where the madness and insanity steps in.However, some experts — including people who are advising the U.S. government on terrorism — said not only are suicide bombers sane, but also that anyone of us, under the right circumstances, could become one. [Emphasis mine]
"Normal people, given the right circumstances or right set of friends, can become suicide bombers," said Marc Sageman, a forensic psychiatrist and former CIA officer.
"I think anybody could become a suicide bomber," said Sageman, the former CIA officer. "It's a process."Here is where the "experts" make their mistake. Normal people do not choose and stay with friends willing to kill innocents. Only Insane people do. It is dishonest to try and make the case that anyone can become a killer just because someone can become a killer. It's just not true unless your purpose is to excuse their behavior by implying that anyone could do it. To become a suicide bomber today you must be able to embrace evil. Embracing evil in the name of god takes insanity. Anyone could never become a suicide bomber because I never could and I am sure that is true of most Americans as well. We might want to keep our eyes on these “experts” though; they don’t sound too confident about themselves.

The New York Civil Liberties Union will file suit against the city Thursday to keep police from searching the bags of passengers entering the subway, organization lawyers said.If the ACLU wins, the searches are ordered stopped and suicide bombers attack the New York subway system that could be the death of the ACLU. If it was not a life and death matter I would almost root for the ACLU to win just to see them destroyed. The suit, which will be filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, will claim that the two-week old policy violates constitutional guarantees of equal protection and prohibitions against unlawful searches and seizures, while doing almost nothing to shield the city from terrorism.
It argues that the measure also allows the possibility for racial profiling, even though officers are ordered to randomly screen passengers.

Cowboys and Cops Shoot First and Ask Questions Later
The Houston Chronicle has once again demonstrated it's total contempt and/or cluelessness about Texas culture by warning Brits not to let their "bobbies grow up to be cowboys". First impressions of the article give one the feeling that Harris county police are running around indiscriminately shooting innocents in the back.
According to reporting by Chronicle writers Roma Khanna and Lise Olsen, an astonishing 193 police officers from 18 law enforcement agencies in Harris County killed or wounded 189 people over a five-year span ending in 2004. In 65 cases, the victim was unarmed. In some cases the officer fired into the suspect's back or into a moving vehicle. Twenty-three cases involved the mentally ill.You could forgive the lack of reasons for the shootings if not for their seeming need for more prosecution of police officers. It is as if they assume the police are the ones at fault here. They do manage to let Blair off the hook with his "apology". One would think they understand that the "difficult circumstances" are as applicable here as in Great Briton.British Prime Minister Tony Blair apologized outright for the Menezes killing. That rarely happens stateside, where police are likely to make excuses when an innocent civilian is shot. In fact, according to Khanna and Olsen's research, police are seldom disciplined and rarely prosecuted when they shoot someone.
But Blair made no bones about the fact that the police "are doing their job in very, very difficult circumstances." Ultimately, those circumstances place the blame for the death of innocents squarely on the transit bombers, not on the police as they attempt to meet the challenge of ferreting out terrorist operatives.Towards the end the Chronicle seems to be trying to soften the tone of the article until they conclude with this utter contempt for American police.
Balancing anti-terrorism efforts with public safety and civil liberty requires that police undergo frequent drills and that they remain fully accountable to the public. That will help to ensure that English bobbies do not succumb to the "cowboy" mentality that some American police officers have adopted as their credo.Lets get a few things straight, outlaws shoot first and ask questions later, cowboys are honest, trustworthy, reliable and protect the innocent. Only a carpet bagging yank liberal would not know this. America has some damn fine law enforcement officials that do the best they can in a difficult situation no apologies needed. Those 189 people were likely fleeing a crime scene, resisting arrest where the officer’s safety was in danger or at the least ignoring the instructions of law enforcement officers. Does this mean the Chronicle only wants us to arrest criminals that come in peacefully and possibly let some of the most violent offenders flee to harm others?
More and more I am glad I canceled my subscription to this pathetic rag.

2/3 of British Muslims Suffer Anglophobia
I am tired of hearing about Islamophobia. What we really have here is a worldwide epidemic of Anglophobia. The irrational fear of freedom, democracy, prosperity and dignity is a sad thing to watch.
Nearly two-thirds of Muslims told pollsters that they had thought about their future in Britain after the attacks, with 63% saying they had considered whether they wanted to remain in the UK.I suppose they are considering returning to a Muslim country where their freedoms are protected and their safety is assured?

Why Have We Not Been Hit Again?
While there are no guarantees that we will not be attacked again and attacked soon I think it is significant that we have not been attacked in a substantial way since 9/11. I don't believe anyone thought we would have gone this long between significant attacks. There is much speculation on why that is. I personally think it was our response to the attack that is the clue. A good summation of my views on this can be found here.
Despite the ramp up in our nation's efforts in the areas of interdiction of finances, surveillance of targets, technological security improvements, eavesdropping, and infiltration of enemy enclaves, it would simply still be impossible to stop a jihadi from strapping on a bomb or some other highly lethal apparatus, and set it off in a subway, a shopping mall, or a skyscraper. No, we have done a great job of making it difficult for our enemy to strike, but certainly not impossible, so dwelling on our enemy's CAPABILITY when trying to assess why we have been spared for this long falls well short of explaining the absence of an attack. What else could it be?
Medved seemed to be saying that the only other explanation lies in the possibility that we may have somehow altered the psychological dynamic within the enemy camp. In short, we may have eliminated the reason we were struck to begin with, and through CONSEQUENCES which have accrued to the enemy, had a profound effect on the terrorists' WILL to hit the Great Satan again. That said, I am acutely aware of the jihadis' ability to invent another reason to strike us, they have demonstrated an infinite number of grievances to justify their actions in this macabre play. Complacency can surely be deadly here, of this I am also aware, but so can the failure to understand that this war is being fought, as all wars have been throughout history, on both a strategic and psychological battlefield. Given our mystery as to not only why our enemy hates us so, but why it thinks it can defeat us, the only thing which could be more deadly than not knowing what we are doing WRONG in this particular war, is to be oblivious to what we may be doing RIGHT.
Nearly four years after the 9-11 attack on NYC, and in light of the attacks on Spain and London, it needs to be considered that we were not attacked on that day for an abundance of hatred, but for a profound LACK OF RESPECT. Many have correctly chronicled the series of non-responses to terror over the three Presidencies preceding George W. Bush's entry into office. Our enemy certainly had good reason to expect to hit us hard, draw us into Afghanistan, and defeat us there as they felt they had defeated the Russians. We had demonstrated consistently that we would "cut and run" if any blood were shed. The Mogadishu model was the operative one for them, we know this because we got it straight from the mouth of the chief perpetrator, Osama bin-Laden himself.
Medved time and again implied to his callers that he felt it was the SURPRISE at our ability to quickly take down the Taliban which changed the emotional dynamic within the enemy camp, and it certainly had an effect. Remember, the Western Media had painted George W as a gray-matter challenged, born-with-a-silver-spoon-nincompoop, with no knowledge of foreign affairs, and so spineless he had joined the National Guard to avoid Viet-Nam. Though 9-11 had been planned prior to his election, bin-Laden had every right to believe that the time to strike was made even more urgent with the election of Bush II. Even after the eradication of the Taliban, the jihadis in my view still were not sufficiently surprised or afraid to strike at the Great Satan again, it would have been just a matter of time had Bush stopped right there.
But to their surprise, he didn't. When Bush led America into Iraq to not only topple Saddam Hussein, but also to establish a new democracy there, then the screams from the caves of Afghanistan could clearly be made out..."Who in the name of Allah is this Bush guy?"
These were CONSEQUENCES folks. Two buildings go down, two COUNTRIES go down.[emphasis mine] Not only did the Great Satan eliminate the base of its enemy it established one of its own in their midst. Not only was the Great Satan willing to stand and shed blood in Afghanistan, it was willing to go to Iraq and do the same thing. There was no strategic miscalculation on the part of Osama, but there was a huge blunder in ascertaining the psychological make-up of his enemy, as has no doubt become painfully obvious to him.
As the media was mocking in their view of the lack of "shock and awe" at the advent of the Iraq war, "shock and awe" was most assuredly resonating within the caves of Afghanistan. It was at this precise moment when the jihadis realized they had stuck their hands in the proverbial hornet's nest. Make no mistake, our entry into Iraq, and the subsequent extraction of Saddam Hussein from that spider hole were significant emotional events for the entire Arab world.
Am I attributing the dearth of attacks on our soil to the restoration of respect through our willingness to stand and die in Iraq and Afghanistan and the fear of consequences induced by our actions? Yes. It is my contention that there has been a reassessment within the enemy camp. Who and where they have chosen to strike indicates a lowering of strategic goals. This has occurred through the humiliation and fear now present as a direct result of our actions. The good news is that despite our attempts to frame our actions as defensive and altruistic, our enemy has seen them as punitive and retaliatory. This is a very good thing, and in my opinion, this fact will play a large role as we move forward to defeat our ememy.
But only if we realize it.

Releasing the Abu Grahb Photos Will get more Killed
Everyone knows that every large organization no matter how well intentioned will have those that step outside the bounds of civilized conduct. I think we can all agree that Abu Ghraib was not a theme park. We know that investigations and prosecutions are underway to deal with those responsible as we see some of it covered by the press daily.
So what is shown on the 87 photographs and four videos from Abu Ghraib prison that the Pentagon, in an eleventh hour move, blocked from release this weekend? One clue: Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told Congress last year, after viewing a large cache of unreleased images: "I mean, I looked at them last night, and they're hard to believe.” They show acts "that can only be described as blatantly sadistic, cruel and inhumane," he added. What is to be served by publishing these photos and films other then get innocents killed, incite the terrorist further, undermine US efforts in the region and contribute to destabilization in the region. I have no doubt that the remaining evidence is damning to those that participated but no reasonable person can consider these acts government sanctioned American policy. By the reaction of many on the left you would think President was directing these abominations personally which is patently ridiculous. Read here if you want the worst of the accusations [warning: they are disgusting].
Is the self satisfaction of a smug "I told you so" really that important? Is it worth the lost lives when it adds nothing new to the debate other then degree? I say prosecute the guilty and destroy to photos. There are times when the publics’ right to know is not in the public’s interest. This is one of those times.

Yelling Fire in a Jihad
Since the London bombings occurred I have been wondering more and more how many deaths it would take before calling for jihad is tantamount to inciting violence and will be enough to have someone summarily rounded up and jailed or expelled from the country. Can we seriously allow mosques that teach this hate to remain open if they continue to support, encourage and incubate domestic terrorism that results in the death of thousands?
Obviously the token security against terrorism we offer now where a 70 year old grandmother is just as likely to be checked as a person of Middle East origin dressed in traditional Muslim garb calling for jihad is not serious security.
We all know that yelling fire in a crowded theater is enough to get one arrested because of the possible harm that could result. If the reason for the prohibition is to save lives, what about calling for the random murder of fellow human beings in the name of Allah. It has become painfully obvious that this behavior is encouraging people to walk into crowds and detonate themselves killing as many as possible.
Can these people seriously expect to have their free speech respected if the death toll continues to mount? So how many would have to die? Already we have seen 3,000+ dead in an attack. Will it take 10,000, 100,000 or maybe a million? Does free speech tolerance have these kinds of limits?
Personally I do not think we have reached that point and I hope we never do, but it does make one wonder.

Israel Threatens Peace by Blowing up Killers and Their Rockets
This is crazy. How in the world does this mean Israel jeopardizes the peace?
The Israeli military launched an airstrike Friday on a van carrying Hamas militants and a cache of homemade rockets in a Gaza City street, killing four people in what may be the most serious blow to a 5-month-old truce. The strike destroyed the van, scattering shards of metal and body parts hundreds of yards away. The van was filled with homemade rockets, Palestinian security officials said.
Militants have fired volleys of rockets and mortars against Israeli targets in recent day.
The Israeli military said the airstrike targeted senior Hamas weapons manufacturers on their way to launching more rockets at Israeli targets.
