Son put up for adoption without fathers consent

I suppose it was the womans body and her decision?

David Archuletta says he knew his former girlfriend was pregnant in 2001, but she told him the baby was stillborn.

More than a year later, she told him the truth -- that she had given birth after traveling to New Jersey from their home in Colorado, and turned over the baby for adoption.

Ever since, Archuletta has been fighting for custody -- his efforts stymied by what state officials now say was a mistake by the adoption agency involved, Children of the World.

I hope she was worth it considering her sterling example of motherhood.
Later, but still months before the adoption was completed, Candelaria sent a letter to the adoptive parents asking for more money for expenses and threatening to tell the child's father about the adoption if the couple did not comply, according to DHS records.

State pursues terminating child to charge felon with murder

There should be a special place in hell reserved for people that harm children but is it appropriate for the state to terminate a child so as to be able to charge the person who put her in her present condition with murder. At least in Terri Schivo's case her "husband" was there to advise us of her wishes when it was no longer convenient for him to keep her alive.

Massachusetts' officials and doctors were deciding on Wednesday when to end life support for an 11-year-old girl beaten into a vegetative state, following a court ruling that she had a right to die.

Doctors will run tests on Haleigh Poutre after the Supreme Judicial Court, the state's top court, decided on Tuesday that her breathing machines and feeding tubes could be disconnected.

The court's decision adds fuel to America's divisive "right to die" debate and could lead to murder charges against her stepfather, Jason Strickland, a 31-year-old auto mechanic accused of battering Poutre.

The girl's brain was found partly sheared when she was hospitalized on September 11. Her body was covered with burns, cuts and bruises and her teeth were broken.

Strickland had fought to keep Poutre on life support -- a move that would have allowed him to avoid a charge of murder.

This man is a evil pig and is doing this for his personal gain. How can this be squared with the Schivo case when her wishes are unknown and the state is acting against the wishes of the legal guardian. Especially when you consider that some argue that Terri was in her condition because of the actions of her "husband".

*UPDATE*

Oops, maybe not so vegetative.

An 11-year-old girl, left in a coma after an alleged beating by her stepfather, is responding to stimuli, US medical officials say.
Haleigh Poutre began responding to treatment a day after Massachusetts' highest court ruled the state could take her off a life-support machine.
But lets not jump to conclusions.
Haleigh is now breathing on her own and doctors will carry out more tests "to see what the movements mean", according to the state's Department for Social Services.
The state may still be able to kill her upon further analysis.

$200,000,000,000.00 Divided by 400,000 People = $500,000.00 Per Person

The amount of money Bush is planning to throw at New Orleans (assuming the current figure of $200 billion being tossed around) could amount to HALF A MILLION DOLLARS PER PERSON.

Maybe they should vote and decide on rebuilding or straight cash payments. At least then you would know it went to people rather then political insiders.

The Death of Astroworld

I am seeing the death of one of my most potent childhood thrills. Astroworld is about to be no more.

It's the place where Houston children got their summer thrills, teenagers got their first jobs and college students saw their favorite bands.

Now after 37 years, the landmark Six Flags AstroWorld theme park will close at the end of this season, the victim of rising land values that overshadow its worth as an entertainment venue.

Every summer brought the dream of going to Astroworld and experiencing it's wonders. Whenever I went I always tried to go on every ride, but the Texas Cyclone was always my favorite and I usually made 3-4 passes thru that line. Other favorites included the Bamboo Shoot, River of no Return and the western style shooting saloon. The mini-loves of bread from the bakery in their own mini plastic sleeve making them look like baby loaves were a huge thrill. Sure new rides came along but the old classics always held their charm.
This month, AstroWorld is open Saturday and Sunday. From Oct. 7 -30, it will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The final day of operation is Oct. 30, the last day of Fright Fest.
I will be certain to make one last visit with my kids before the final farewell. I would hate to miss one last chance to walk through the halls of my childhood dreams.

Homeschoolers in Germany Loose Parental Rights

This is unbelievable and before you think it could never happen here read this. We already have an entrenched special interest that believes this same nonsense.

Last week, a court in Paderborn in the German state of Westphalia ruled that two Baptist couples lose their parental authority over their own children in educational matters. The court said it was interfering “in order to protect the children from further harm.” It stated that the parents had shown “a stubborn contempt both for the state’s educational duty as well as the right of their children to develop their personalities by attending school.” The court appointed the local Paderborn social service as guardian over the children to ensure that they attend public school.
Children are not allowed to opt out of classes or school activities and homeschooling is illegal in Germany since Adolf Hitler outlawed it in 1938.
The parents’ right to personally educate their children would prevent the children from growing up to be responsible individuals within society.” Kohler was backed by the Westphalian minister of Education, the Socialist politician Ute Schäfer, who stated that the obligation to attend a government approved school follows from the “right of a child to free education and maturation.”
Parents are considered to be incapable of schooling their own children.
Read it all.

NEA Calls Home Schooling Parents Well-Meaning Amateurs

When you consider that my kids knew how to read before they went to public school and that a HUGE portion of what they have learned in every subject was imparted to them by my wife and I. You have to wonder if these people can fit through doors with their heads swelled this big. Some of my favorite mind blowing quotes are under the fold.

The “it” is meant to be “teaching.” Let’s face it, teaching children is difficult even for experienced professionals. Wannabes have no idea.
Those wannabes are parent if case you didn't know. Be sure to read them all. To believe some of this is one thing, to publish it as though no one but they can read is mind blowing.

Michelle Malkin has more.

So, why would some parents assume they know enough about every academic subject to home-school their children? You would think that they might leave this -- the shaping of their children’s minds, careers, and futures -- to trained professionals. That is, to those who have worked steadily at their profession for 10, 20, 30 years! Teachers!
There’s nothing like having the right person with the right experience, skills and tools to accomplish a specific task. Whether it is window-washing, bricklaying or designing a space station. Certain jobs are best left to the pros. Formal education is one of those jobs.
It’s obvious to me that these organizations are in it for the money. They are involved in the education of children mostly in the hope of profiting at the hands of well-meaning but gullible parents.
This mean all professional teachers would work for free?
I’m certainly not opposed to religious schools, or to anyone standing up for what they believe in. I admire anyone who has the strength to stand up against the majority. But in this case, pulling children out of a school is not the best way to fight the laws that govern our education system. No battle has ever been won by retreating!
Don’t most parents have a tough enough job teaching their children social, disciplinary and behavioral skills? They would be wise to help their children and themselves by leaving the responsibility of teaching math, science, art, writing, history, geography and other subjects to those who are knowledgeable, trained and motivated to do the best job possible.
Rarely have I ever seen a more blatant display of elitism.

Rainbow Party

You can't make this stuff up but needless to say it's aimed at 14 year olds touted as educational, considered funny by Oprah editors and has Howard Stern complaining about a double standard. Michelle Malkin covers it well here. If you are a parent beware.

Okay, we've got red, orange, and purple," Gin said. "Now we just need yellow, green, and blue."
"Don't forget indigo," Sandy said as she scanned the row of lipstick tubes.
"What are you talking about?"
"Indigo," Sandy repeated as if that explained everything. "You know. ROY G. BIV. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet."
"That's seven lipsticks. Only six girls are coming. We don't need it."

What kind of party do you imagine they might be organizing? Perhaps a makeover party? With moms and daughters sharing their best beauty secrets and bonding in the process?

Alas, no. No parents are invited to this get-together. A "rainbow party," you see, is a gathering of boys and girls for the purpose of engaging in group oral sex. Each girl wears a different colored lipstick and leaves a mark on each boy. At night's end, the boys proudly sport their own cosmetically-sealed rainbow you-know-where bringing a whole new meaning to the concept of "party favors."

Rapist need government Viagra too

There is nothing more heartbreaking then a rapist that cannot perform I guess. We must be sensitive to their self esteem for the sake of their good mental health.

Scores of convicted rapists and other high-risk sex offenders in New York have been getting Viagra paid by Medicaid for the last five years, the state's comptroller said Sunday.

Audits by Comptroller Alan Hevesi's office showed that between January 2000 and March 2005, 198 sex offenders in New York received Medicaid-reimbursed Viagra after their convictions. Those included crimes against children as young as 2 years old, he said.

To get further disgusted go here to see your tax dollars at work.

Crowd cheers as cop is beaten

You see the article headline. Where do you think this happened? Pakistan? Afganistan? Iraq? No. Glen Park is located in Indiana. Yes, HERE
USA-Indiana.GIF

As a group of residents cheered, a Glen Park man tackled Gary Patrolman Carl Cochran, choking the officer and threatening to kill him in an unprovoked attack Wednesday night, Lt. Roger Smith said.
What was the cop doing?
The woman involved in the domestic dispute was the first to speak to Cochran when he arrived at her home about 9:20 p.m. She said she and Banks had been at the casino boats “and now he was acting crazy,” the probable cause affidavit states. Cochran was speaking to the woman and Banks, who appeared to be joking and “engaging in horseplay” when the woman ran behind Cochran and asked him to protect her.

Cochran reported he put his hand out to stop Banks from continuing toward the woman when Banks tackled Cochran’s legs and the fight began.

Yep, protecting a woman.

Disturbing sex education

I have some reservation about posting this as it is just about as disgusting as can be. But there are some things we as citizens must be aware are happening. I would have dismissed it as a hoax if I hadn't seen the Pamplet/book discussed elsewhere.

Hard-core pornographic homosexual "how-to" booklet given to hundreds of kids at Brookline High School.
Read here if you can stomach it.

Planned Parenthood=good --- US military=bad

Sometimes you just want to cry. I think it's time to ban government funding to educational institutions that block military recruitment.

A Seattle high school bars military solicitation, touching off debate over Iraq war and free speech.
"Planned Parenthood, as far as I know, does not advocate or perform illegal acts. The US military does," Mr. Ludwig continued. The soft-spoken carpenter said he would not object if Army representatives came to Garfield to debate their ideas on torture or aggressive war. "What I object to is their coming here to recruit students to perform those acts," he said. "It's not about free speech."
The military recruits to perform torture? More

Orgasm day?

Just when you think you heard it all.

'Orgasm Day' Celebrated As Official City Holiday

POSTED: 8:32 am EDT May 10, 2005

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- It was Orgasm Day Monday in Espertantina, a small town in northeast Brazil.

Mayor Felipe Santolia said his town has unofficially celebrated orgasm day for years. But this year is the first when it was recognized as an official municipal holiday.

Santolia said the idea is to improve marriages. Santolia notes that when a woman is unsatisfied, it affects all aspects of her life, including her relationship with the city. Santolia added that Monday's official holiday was to celebrate "orgasm in all its senses."

Whore college?

You can't make this stuff up.

SAN FRANCISCO - The 25 students in jeans and T-shirts could have been in any career that requires hustle. The classes, covering topics such as effective marketing, stress reduction and legal issues, could have been part of any professional development seminar.

But this was "Whore College," and any illusion it was just another corporate how-to for young go-getters abruptly ended at the sex toy display and was stripped away for good during a graphic demonstration that put a whole new twist on the concept of hands-on training.

"We are still illegal," instructor Kimberlee Cline said before her 20-minute demonstration. "If we want to be treated as business professionals, we need to act ethically within the industry."
