The Da Vinci Code
As usual, any decent book is hard to capture in a movie and The Da Vinci code is no exception. The movie was OK but it left me a bit disappointed because of the poor casting and plot changes. For one, Tom Hanks is way too old to be paired with Audrey Tautou. There was really no chemistry in the relationship whatsoever. Half the time they came across as father and daughter.
I will say the ghost overlays were fun to watch but cute special effects don't really make a movie. They did manage to touch many of the events of the book but took a few shortcuts that completely changed the character dynamics striking at the soul of the characters portrayed. I can accept changes to save time but in my opinion they went a bit too far.
If you have never read the book you will likely be bored and lost during a lot of this movie. If you have read the book you will likely be disappointed in many of the changes. Still, I will likely buy the DVD when it comes out and watch it again.
