Banning Christmas and the Forth of July

And why would someone do that?

An administrator at California State University, Sacramento has banned decorations pertaining to Christmas and the 4th of July, among other holidays, from her office because they represent "religious discrimination" and "ethnic insensitivity."

"Time has come to recognize that religious discrimination, as well as ethnic insensitivity to certain holidays, is forbidden," Patricia Sonntag, director of the Office of Services to Students with Disabilities, stated in the directive she e-mailed to members of her staff on Dec. 9.

I grow so weary of reading this kind of ignorance from people in positions of authority.

Banning christmas decorations can have some sensible reason behind it, if you also support banning other religious holidays (I know they usually don't, don't say I am implying that they all do), but banning the 4th of July??!?!?!?!??! The day recognized as when this country gained independence? I fail to see how this is insensitive seeing as how everyone here is supposed to be, you know, an American citizen...
