Scrap the Whole Pledge of Allegiance
Michael Newdow has been on a vendetta to eliminate the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance but now he says even that is not enough because Christians might recite it with "under God" while atheists skip that part.
Newdow believes that it is time to get rid of the old Pledge of Allegiance altogether. He said that it's impractical to just change the pledge because children will continue to say "under God" out of habit or under protest. What he means by this is he does not want Christian children to be allowed to say "under God" in violation of a court ruling banning the phrase and forcing modification of the pledge should it be decided that way.

It is a shame the phrase "under god" was added in the 50's. Now the government will be wasting tax dollars defending it and this will not go away. If he loses this time he or someone like him will bring it up again in the future. This is a good example of why state and religion should be seperate. There will always be someone out there with a different religous view and the time and money to waste.

Actually your wrong. Other groups have been opposed to the pledge of allegience period for years because they consider it offensive to those Americans that think patriotism is as kind of racism. Those so called "citizens of the world" take great offense to any forms of patriotism. To destroy a nation you first destroy it's families then you destroy it's core values then you go after its nationalistic pride. Then once all ties are severed and we have nothing in common we fall apart like a cheap import.

I think Newdow is making a mistake by doing that. The only case he can actually win is that the law that altered the Pledge og Allegiance in 1954 (?) is unconstitutional, and thus the pledge should go back to how it was before it was changed.
He could win this because it is true, that law was unconstitutional, as adding the phrase "under God" respects the Judeo-Christian establishment of religion.
Moving to eliminate it all together seems like a hapless misadventure that opens him up for attacks of being anti-American or similar.
Can't we just change the pledge back to how it was before 1954 and be done with this whole damn issue?
